Al-Aseel to host 3-day equestrian festival

Published: Mar 8, 2011 23:22 Updated: Mar 8, 2011 23:22

JEDDAH: Al-Aseel Equestrian Club is to host Jeddah's Equestrian Festival on Wednesday until Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. every day. The event is open to families and children.

The three-day event is all about fun and entertainment, said Mariah Al-Mahdaly, founder of the event’s organizer Fainak. “We have a couple of entertaining areas for children and adults. It’s an open event for everyone seeking fun and joy,” said Al-Mahdaly.

“We have organized many activities that people might like and enjoy. We want to achieve the ultimate happiness for older and younger people,” she added.

“There is an equestrian competition and fencing competition in which professional horse riders can jump over fences for the audience’s entertainment and for riders who want to win a grand prize,” said Al-Mahdaly.

“There will be a garage and bazaar where participants will offer products and items, both used and new, for sale,” she added.

The festival also has a charity corner selling used books, the proceeds of which will be donated in charity. “There is also a book fair where people can donate used English and Arabic books and magazines for sale … This corner is 100 percent for the benefit of Mawakeb Al-Ajer, a non-profit organization,” said Al-Mahdaly.

Children’s activities are dedicated to festive games and competitions. “There will be a princess walk where young girls from the age of four up until the age of 10 will be wearing their favorite princess gowns, put on accessories, take photos and then walk around the whole festival in one long line to show off their dresses,” said Al-Mahdaly.

“We also offer children eating competitions and other festive competitions only for the pleasure of children and the younger generation,” she added.
