Sama wins Saudi air carrier licence
Sama wins Saudi air carrier licence
Posted: Tuesday, December 26, 2006
Riyadh - Sama has been granted a new national air carrier licence by Saudi Arabias General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) to operate domestic scheduled flights across the kingdom.
Hatim Mouminah, a board member, said: We are delighted with the confidence GACA has shown in us by awarding Sama the Dammam base licence. We look forward to bringing lower fares and a simpler flying experience to Saudi Arabia. We believe our services will further boost national tourism and create new job opportunities for Saudis.
He added that Sama has passed several stages in its start-up process, the first being the arrival of two Boeing aircraft in the Kingdom, fully kitted out with our livery and seats. A further two aircraft will be arriving this month. Our priority is to serve as many cities in Saudi Arabia as we can with up to 35 aircraft over the next few years. We look forward to announcing details of Sama destinations, flight times and fares shortly.
In addition to the arrival of the first aircraft, Sama has signed up several key suppliers to make sure that safety and world class experience underpin the airline.
One of the most important contracts includes SR Technics, a world class aircraft maintenance company.
Similarly, Sama has singed an agreement with Mango Aviation, a boutique airline consultancy with several decades of airline management experience.
